Benzie Area Trail Report – Benzie Bureau – 12/14

Is it Monday already? Did ya get out this weekend? Decent weekend traffic and warmer temps melted the snow down a bit over the weekend, so the base is wearing thin in some areas, so you’ll find some snirty spots out there. Weatherman is calling for freezing rain this morning but temps turning colder, with snow later today, then 2-4" tomorrow. Still plenty of snow to ride, and hopefully we will get the snow as they forecast for the groomers to get back out to make it nice again! Remember the Groomers are volunteers out there so give them the right of way, slow down, show your appreciation with a thumbs up as you pass by! Grooming is done 3-4 days a week, by 3 groomers at different parts of the trail, every Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat. nights, plus as needed. FYI, The next Snowmobile Safety class at the Snowbirds Clubhouse is coming up Saturday, January 9, 2010. Ages 12 and up. Class starts at 8am. It’s Free & Lunch provided. Anyway – our season has begun baby! Drop me a note to let me know your adventures! I love hearing your reports, your stories, and seeing pics! I’ll let ya know as soon as the weather changes again! BE SAFE, BE SMART, and I’ll seeya on the trails! CarolB — Benzie Bureau

Benzie Area Trail Report – Benzie Bureau – 12/11

Yeehah baby! GOT SNOW? WE GOT SNOW! It can’t get any better! Perfect weekend riding coming up! The storm of the last few days has dropped anywhere from 14-24" of snow on us and more is coming down now! Winds shifted westerly and temps have dropped into single digits and low teens so bundle up in those layers. More cold and lake effect forecasted for the weekend too. Groomers are out and they say that the base is anywhere from 6-10" already with more LE snow coming down now with blowing and drifting! Drifts of two feet in some areas too so have fun but take care! So – these low temps combined with the grooming should be setting up a darn nice base! Its awesome baby! Get out there!
