Benzie Area Trail Report – Benzie Bureau – 12/27

Benzie Visitor Bureau – 12/27

Hi all! Woohooh! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! Pretty nice holiday riding eh? Hopefully it stays that way! Nothing much to speak of for snow forecasted for this week unfortunately until the weekend and then they are calling for warm temps and rain! Yikes! So, lets hope that changes before then! I’ll let ya know as the week goes by though but for now it’s still looking pretty good. Groomers have been out so trails are holding up pretty well. North better than south just because there’s more snow. East leg of the center route snow is sparce. South of Kaleva to Wellston showing a few bare spots. The further you get from the big lake, the less snow. Base is about 5" in most places with more in the woods. If ya missed the last snowmobile safety class, there is another one January 8 at the Snowbirds Clubhouse in Kaleva. Free of charge to anyone age 12 and up. Adults welcome and encouraged. Starts at 8am, ending about 2:30pm. Lunch provided by the Snowmobile Club. Clubhouse is at 14121 Industrial Ave. in Kaleva. Please, do me a favor! To keep ALL parts of the trails open for us, STAY ON THE TRAIL! This means YOU! Its not just a given that we get every inch of trail for our fun. We gotta stay on track at all times! By the way, those groomers are out there volunteering their time and energy to us, so if ya see one, get outta their way and give them a thumbs up as they go by! THANKS! Ride smart, sober, & safe! CYA ON THE TRAILS! Carol

The North and Middle sections are in fair condition. The south trail has some sparse, snirty, and moguly areas, expecially around the Highbridge area. Trail conditions: The North trail is in full swing. Good base and snow. In the middle loop, the further south you go the less snow there is. On the south loop from 115 south it is ride able with minimal snow. We are hoping for snow dance to work as you all might sing with us LET IT SNOW** Let It Snow** let it snow**.

Benzie Area Trail Report – Benzie Bureau – 12/19

Benzie Visitor Bureau – 12/18

Hi all! It’s Saturday! Get out and play! Last weekend’s storm dropped at 6-18 inches of new snow but with it came huge winds again too. Lots of snow out there and we saw many trees down, limbs, drifts all making real work for the groomers plus then the north groomer broke down, BUT that groomer is back up and running so all areas are getting groomed and should be looking pretty darn good! Still a few limbs and trees down and some signs are covered to some extent so be careful! Some clear cutting has changed the wind patterns so its gotten harder to deal with too. Highbridge to Turtle Lake is looking better now too, so overall, its looking good and only getting better as groomers make their way thru and we get more snow! We have a decent base started, at least 6" under there with about 14-18" of snow in the woods. It’s been snowing good here in Benzonia all day and we have about 3-4" of new fluffy stuff now, so its only getting better! Bring a camera out there cuz its gorgeous! Gonna be good Holiday riding! Hey Clint, thanks for checking in and emailing me, and Paul, way to go! You make my day! I LOVE the pictures and report! THANK TONS! Get out and enjoy, cuz it’s our time baby! Do me a favor PLEASE! In order for us to keep ALL parts of the trails open for us, STAY ON THE TRAIL! This means YOU! Its not just a given that we get every inch of trail for our fun. We gotta stay on track at all times! By the way, those groomers are out there volunteering their time and energy to us, so if ya see one, get outta their way and give them a thumbs up as they go by! Drop me an email and stories, sights, & pics so I know you are out there! Stay smart, sober, & safe out there for me k? And hey – I’ll CYA ON THE TRAILS! Carol

All trails are RIDE able at this time. Our base is now 6 inches. We have had 2 more inches of lake effect snow in the past 24. The north groomer is broke down until Saturday latest. Groomer was sighted in Kaleva getting ready to hit the trails. We have lots of riders out there taking advantage of the new snow. Trail conditions: All trails are RIDE able. Sledders were seen out today. South trail is in good conditon. We are hoping for snow dance to work as you all might sing with us LET IT SNOW** Let It Snow** let it snow**.
