Gaylord Area Trail Report – Ray’s Retreat Country Inn – 01/31

11 degrees is the temp at this time (7 am) so winter has returned. The trail base will be mostly ice under the snow. We received a few inches of snow overnight. There is a lake effect snow advisory thru tomorrow evening. Right now, according to 7 & 4 (tv station) radar the lake effect band is hitting just south of Gaylord and west. Kalkaska and Grayling area receiving the snows. Those winds will shift and we should be getting more of the beautiful snow again.

I think that the riding should be decent this weekend. With an ice base and several inches of snow on top of it that should make good trails. We did not loose much of the snow in the woods or our yard. That will be good for riding also as the new snow accumulates.

We are full this weekend. If it were me I would be trying to plan a trip north thru the week.

Gaylord Area Trail Report – Ray’s Retreat Country Inn – 01/29

We started the day with freezing drizzle this morning which cancelled schools around the area. By mid morning it had warmed up. Fog, dense deep fog was and still is the story for the rest of the day.

We had three sets of riders that went out this morning. Surprise to all of us, they all reported they had good rides. The trails held up well thru the day. The groomer was out.

At this time it is raining. A steady rain. A cold front is on its way, and snow with it… the big question is how quickly it will arrive. Its looking good for the weekend. The local news station said we could have 12 inches of new snow by Friday.

Will give you an update tomorrow.
