Gaylord Area Trail Report – Ray’s Retreat Country Inn – 01/28

We woke up to 6 inches of new wet snow. Schools were all cancelled. That turned into a light rain mid morning which as it hit the ground and trails turned into freezing rain. By mid afternoon it was a light mist.

Gaylord Area – Jan. 27
The trails are still in great shape.

The trail conditions this morning were excellent. Everyone enjoyed the start of their day on the trail. With the weather by afternoon it was a loose and sloppy trail. Still lots of snow on them at this point.

Tomorrow is going to be the day that could wreck havoc on the trail. Record high temps might be set. Tonight’s low is back down to 28. It turns back to bitter cold Wed/Thur and lake effect snow is in the forecast for the rest of the week.

Gaylord Area Trail Report – Ray’s Retreat Country Inn – 01/27

The dogs and I just came in from a walk along the trail. Its in great shape. We could see that easily, and when we had to climb down along the railroad track for the speeding sleds it confirmed what I already knew. The trail is flat and fun to ride.

The general agreement around the dining room this morning was that the trails held up well with all the traffic of yesterday. Everyone said it was the most traffic they have seen on the trail for many years. It was one sled after another all day and into the night. There were several police officers along the way parking and watching.

It’s a great day to get out and ride. Many of the weekend people will be headed for home.
