Munising Area Trail Report – 01/22

TRAIL REPORT: 8:30 a.m., Sunday, 1/22/17
Slow Moving January Thaw – almost gone.
GROOMING OPERATIONS: Dense Fog – operations still on stand-by.
Operations will resume as soon as possible.

TRAIL CONDITIONS: Fair – wet, soft snow with warm weather. We reluctantly brought the Pisten Bully back last night from a Friday trail side repair. Could only pan to minimize base damage in the soft snow. The trails were holding up much better than expected with the weather but it’s not over yet. Please tread lightly if out riding to help save the trail system while this January thaw finishes passing through.

Trail 8 – Fair to Good. Some moguls starting to form.
Trail 7 South – Fair. Some moguls starting to form.
Trail 7 North – Fair, some bare corners as you approach Christmas.
Trail 419W (Munising-Christmas) – Fair. Still use caution due to a few soft spots closer to Munising.
Trail 422 (Miners Castle) – Fair.
Trail 419E (to Trail 8) – Fair.
Trail 419 (Wetmore-Munising) – Fair.

WEATHER: 36 degrees, 2 mph S Winds, Dense Fog. Drizzle forecast through Monday with day and night temperatures above freezing.
Tuesday winds are to shift out of the NW so let’s hope the Lake Effect Snow engine fires back up.
Past 24 Hour Snowfall: 0′ South, 0′ North (approximate)
