Munising Area Trail Report – 01/17

TRAIL REPORT: 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, 1/17/17
GROOMING OPERATIONS: Trails 419E and Trail 8W, Trail 7/8 and Trail 7 into Christmas, Trail 7 to the Buckhorn, Trail 8E to 422 to Miners Castle Road groomed today. 419W from Christmas to Trail 8, Trail 8 to Shingleton being groomed tonight. Warm weather has grooming scheduled for only nighttime operations at this point.

TRAIL CONDITIONS: Good – soft snow with warm weather.
Trail 8 – Good with a 7 to 8 inch base. (see warning notice below)
Trail 7 South – Good.
Trail 7 North – Good.
Trail 419W (Munising-Christmas) – Good. Still use caution due to a few soft spots closer to Munising.
Trail 422 (Miners Castle) – Good.
Trail 419E (to Trail 8) – Good (very high traffic)
Trail 419 (Wetmore-Munising) – OPEN! Good.

WEATHER: 32 degrees, 2 mph S Winds, Clear
Estimated past 24 Hour Snowfall: 0′ South, 0′ North

CAUTIONS, WARNINGS and UPDATES:

WARNING: Trail 8 has a very large dip that keeps developing at a closed road crossing approx. 1/2 Mile West of Trail 7 South. Groomer Operators regularly remove it but the high speed riding along that section have it return quickly. Be alert and use extreme caution in this area.

CAUTION FOR TRAIL 419:
Standing and flowing water creating a few soft spots in wet areas of the hills closer to Munising. RIDE WITH CAUTION.

CAUTION FOR TRAIL419 (Munising Wetmore Connector) – Trail 419 connector is OPEN. Please use caution when riding. It’s a congested area with driveway crossings. PLEASE obey all stop signs and give right-of-way to vehicles.

IN TOWN TRAIL ETIQUETTE
Private Property owners allow us to use their land for trail connectors.
PLEASE respect the allowed use by staying on the trail, ride safely and stop at all driveways. PLEASE give vehicles the right of way, especially when they are trying to turn off of the major roadways. Remember Cars have the right of way and you are responsible for any related vehicular accidents. These connectors need annual approval so PLEASE ride with respect and courtesy so we can keep them open year after year!

Munising Area Trail Report – 01/16

TRAIL REPORT: 10:30 a.m., Monday, 1/16/17
GROOMING OPERATIONS: Trails 419E and Trail 7 South and all of Trail 8 being groomed today. Warm weather forecast for the next 7 days with no new snow so grooming operations will be limited. Weekend is forecast with above freezing nighttime temps – not good. Let’s hope for a change as it gets closer.

TRAIL CONDITIONS: Good – high traffic weekend with no new snow.

Trail 8 – Very Good with a 7 to 8 inch base. (see warning notice below)
Trail 7 South – Good.
Trail 7 North – Good.
Trail 419W (Munising-Christmas) – Good. Still use caution due to a few soft spots closer to Munising.
Trail 422 (Miners Castle) – Good.
