MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County Sorva – 12/15
TRAIL REPORT – Wednesday December 15, 2021 9:11PM
WET AND SLUSHY! Snow really took a hit today with overall poor conditions. We have a very dense fog now, rain and high winds in the forecast. Been working around the shop. SAFETY FIRST! adding Rebar Impaling Protectors to spring tensioners on our Groomers. Watched too many inexperienced riders tip into the groomers while passing by. Inexpensive protection for that and potential injury when cleaning out snow after a long run. Stay Tuned – We will report again as soon as machines start running. For now do your cold weather snow dances!

An additional 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected over the east, primarily north of M-28. Expect the transition to pure lake-effect tonight, with the lake-effect machine continuing through the rest of this week into this weekend.

The first polar front will sweep through the Midwest on Thanksgiving day bringing temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below average. Lows below zero are expected for some across the north and in the single digits down to I80. Highs this weekend will only be in the single digits and teens for areas down to I80. Dangerous wind chills of -20 degrees or colder are increasingly likely, especially north of I90. The graphic below shows the temperatures on Sunday morning.
Another polar front will move through next week bringing even colder temperatures.
