As of 1/5/18, the Keweenaw Peninsula has 3″ of new snow with 30″ of snow on the ground and has received a total of 150″ of snow for the season.

Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and in good condition. Groomers are out.

Trail usage should still be done with caution as there is still some low snow cover on the Eagles Loop and High Rock. There is open water on the sides of Canal Road.

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 01/04

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Krupps Resort – Good morning Kruppers
More measurable snows just keep adding up in the new year-
Seems like we just keep getting about 4” everyday and then a 7-8” day here and there!
We are at 150+ inches so far for the season!
Over 130” since Dec 5th!
Looks like this pattern is going to continue for now!
Surprisingly the big lake isn’t freezing over much with all this COLD temps we have been having!
The problem with this cold the snow isn’t settling down to give us a good base!
Snow is plenty deep but the stumps and rocks are still hiding under there ready to take out an A arm or bumper or worse so be careful!
It sounds like it might warm up a bit so let’s hope for that so it can pack to a good solid base and then it can pile up on top!
Trails pretty good with things froze up nicely and the holiday week over it helps with the traffic which means smoother trails!
I’m sure it will get bumpy by Saturday afternoon like most weekends due to SO much traffic on the weekends!
