KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Snowmobile Club – 2/16
Our team is headed out tonight to assess the main routes of our system. We will follow up tomorrow morning with an update. Ride right and ride safe there are obstacles appearing from the warm up.

2/16 TRAIL REPORT:
Trails have not been groomed in a few days. In some spots yesterday the trails melted to dirt and there is just a dusting on the trails. For everyone calling and asking if you can come up and ride, Yes you can. I would highly suggest trailering your snowmobile’s out of town.
Our rental snowmobiles are still on pause along with our cafe until more snowfall. Thank you everyone for your patience!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Moderate to heavy snow at times moves into the southern sections of the U.P. late tonight and continues into Monday morning. Hazardous travel conditions are expected for the Monday morning commute! The heaviest snowfall is expected over Menominee County. Lesser snowfall amounts are forecast for the north half of the U.P. and the Keweenaw should remain dry. Gusty westerly winds remain possible over the Keweenaw tonight. Pretty much every trail was groomed last night so get out and enjoy the western UP today. If you're on trail 3 in Twin Lakes stop in the Parkview Lodge & Grill were you'll find Stretch starting at 1:00. Your trip to tha UP won't be complete without some Western UP Trail Reports swag.
Don't forget to get Groomer Tracker so you can see what trails are groomed.

The snow will diminish from west to east on Sunday. By late Sunday morning, expect 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation, but locally up to around 5 inches of snow is possible on the Keweenaw. After a heavy day of traffic, our first team member is headed out to knock down some moguls and get those trails flat for everyone. We’ve heard of several close calls today alone, please slow down and use some caution. We want you to make a return visit! Ride right, safe and sober!

Light snow showers have been observed today with only a half inch so far at the office here in Negaunee Township.
