KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via The U.P. Superior Snowmobile Club – 2/10
Groomer Todd reporting:
Good Morning Everyone. I groomed trail 13 West just beyond Rockland to trail 137 and then turned around and did 12 out to the Bill Nichols trail intersection early this morning. Considering the warm temperatures, the trail is in really good condition. About an inch of snow fell while I was out. Hopefully a little more falls before it’s suppose to stop at noon. There were no wet areas or other hazards to report. I’m going to take my girlfriend out for her first ride of the season so I’ll be sure to take her on 13 West. Enjoy the trails if you’re riding today. Have a great Friday everyone.

Groomer Brad TRAIL REPORT: 3N, from Twin Lakes to Toivola, very rough before groom last night, trail is frozen and therefore the drag blades were floating on the trail, so despite the 3 point being set at zero……it floated between 22- 28. It was groomed twice yesterday and will be done again tonight. We can only do what we can do………

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Moderate to heavy snow at times moves into the southern sections of the U.P. late tonight and continues into Monday morning. Hazardous travel conditions are expected for the Monday morning commute! The heaviest snowfall is expected over Menominee County. Lesser snowfall amounts are forecast for the north half of the U.P. and the Keweenaw should remain dry. Gusty westerly winds remain possible over the Keweenaw tonight. Pretty much every trail was groomed last night so get out and enjoy the western UP today. If you're on trail 3 in Twin Lakes stop in the Parkview Lodge & Grill were you'll find Stretch starting at 1:00. Your trip to tha UP won't be complete without some Western UP Trail Reports swag.

The snow will diminish from west to east on Sunday. By late Sunday morning, expect 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation, but locally up to around 5 inches of snow is possible on the Keweenaw. As a result, plan on slippery road conditions tonight into Sunday morning. After a heavy day of traffic, our first team member is headed out to knock down some moguls and get those trails flat for everyone. We’ve heard of several close calls today alone, please slow down and use some caution. We want you to make a return visit! Ride right, safe and sober!
