Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 12/21

Greetings Sledders,

I took a ride on my Classique this afternoon to get a first hand look at the trails and discovered that the trails have deteri, deteriorat, went downhill on us in a major way over the weekend. The traffic was fairly light as I thought going into the weekend but heavy enough to beat things down pretty good or pretty bad I guess.

We did have the Dervin group in Sat night and Sunday and they had decent rides off trail as did several other folks over the last couple of days. Unfortunately the off trail is about the only reasonable riding that’s left until we get some new preci,. precipta, snow.

HERE’S THE REST OF THE STORY:

GROOMING:
Suspended for now.

TRAILS:
Snirty and dirty for the most part except for the Lovells trail which is fair and snow covered to the range areas.

WEATHER:
This is the worst part of the report. There’s nothing on the horizon indicating snow for us. There’s a system scheduled to come through the Midwest but it’s looking to go South of us. The going South of us is the scary part as this December is shaping up like last year where all of the systems and clippers hit the Michigan umbrella and bounce to the South, hopefully this is not the trend again this season.

Next report Thurs. or Fri.

Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 12/16

Greetings Sledders,

Not much going on this week or weekend which is typical for the weekend before the Holiday.

We had our first two riders of the year in (Steve S. and Jim G.) and they rode about 160 miles on Tue. and Wed. and reported decent rides considering how early in the season it is. Thanks for the beer and wine Steve.

I rode most of our stuff today with groomer drivers Art and Bill. This ride was done in order to get a grooming game plan put together for the weekend. We found the usual for this time of the year, high traffic segments were snirty and kind of thin in spots, lower traffic areas faired better. All in all rideable but not the prettiest of trails.

HERE WE GO THEN:

WEATHER:
Just looked at John Dee a few minutes ago and couldn’t find any good news in terms of future snowfall but it looks as though temps are going to behave for the foreseable future.

GROOMING:
Leaning toward not grooming tomorrow as the trails were basically flat today for our ride and we’re not anticipating heavy traffic. We’ll probably be back at it Saturday during the day for the outlying trails and at night for the main loop.

TRAILS:
I think I’ve pretty well covered that up front.

We need some snow to freshen things up.

Keith, Sandy and The Girls
