TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via GRAND TRAVERSE SNOWMOBILE CLUB – 1/24
Trail Report: 1-24-22
Building that base! We have a winter weather advisory for 3-6 inches of fresh white gold. It is currently starting to snow with more to come. The trails are starting to get better with some snirty areas. Traffic this weekend was moderate in the area and the groomer drivers are reporting that they are starting to get something to work with (see pic). Trails are currently rated as fair to good with some ice in the corners. On another note, a boogie wheel was found in the Rasho road drop zone incase anyone is looking for it (pic attached). WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Precip will gradually taper through the evening. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Additional icing across the area appears less likely today with only a glaze of ice possible for some areas. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency? Are there any numbers showing ice accumulation for Antrim as compared to surrounding areas?
