Trails are in poor condition at this time. We’ve received about 2 inches of new snow yesterday, not enough to improve the trails for sledding. We may receive 1-2 inches more today and tonight. Grooming is on hold! As always please check back here for updates.

Trail Report – Sunday Evening….

Trail and Snow Report….Did Some Riding Today! Sunday, February 12th, 2012 (7:08 pm)

Took a ride earlier today to give the trails a check. Where they were in the open, they were icy and showing skirt and dirt in some places. The trail for just the stretch along Otsego Lake was just terrible. However, where the trails ran through the woods and in protected areas, well, they weren’t too bad at all. So, as it would be difficult to rate the system as a whole, I would say the open areas are in poor condition but I would rate the protected parts of the system as fair to good. I was pleasantly surprised to find that today on the ride. I’m looking at 23.9 degrees right now here at Heart Lake just south of Gaylord by about eight miles. Trails are in poor condition at this time. We are receiving snow mixed with little freezing drizzle at this time. Temps are dropping down to 17 degrees today. Possible 1 – 3 inches of new snow today and 1 -2 inches of new snow tonight. Grooming is on hold! As always please check back here for updates.

Trail and Snow Report….It’s Snowing! Friday, February 10th

More of a weather report today since the trails are still in poor or non-existent condition but it has finally begun to snow here. They (NOAA.gov) are calling for only about 1 to 2 inches today and about another inch or so tonight. As hard as it’s coming down now though, it seems like it could be more. Just maybe that unpredictable lake effect machine could bring us additional accumulation as we most definitely need it. Until we get at least six to eight inches on new stuff, I wouldn’t be able to tell anyone to come up though just yet – soon I hope. As I look at our digital weather station, it’s 25.3 degrees and falling here at Heart Lake Resort Cottages near Gaylord.
