FROM US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan – 1/17

Accumulating snow expected today

Low pressure over northern Illinois will strengthen as it moves into the southern Great Lakes today. Areas of light rain and light freezing rain will transition to all snow by late morning. The snow may become heavy at times during the afternoon…especially south of M-32 in northern lower Michigan. Several inches of snow are possible…resulting in roads becoming slick and snow covered. The snow will taper off this evening.

Tuesday Morning Snow and Trail Report….
by Heart Lake Resort on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 9:46am

Nothing has change from my last two reports in regards to trail conditions but we are just now (9:38 am) starting to get some snow. They are calling for it and it looks like this is the start of it. It was a bit warm yesterday, almost 32 degrees, but only for a short time during the day – the night temp was below freezing. It is now exactly 29.3 degrees here at Heart Lake Resort in Gaylord and the temps are slowly dropping. If we get this snow and then even more lake effect as forecasted, we could have 2 to 5 inches when it’s said and done – more would be nice! Not real specific I realize on amount, but I like seeing it on the ground before I report on it. Folks are still up here riding and this new snow will certainly make things better. As always, please feel free to give me a call if you need additional information and if you would, please share this report with your friends and have them ‘like us’ on Facebook. Thanks. Monday afternoon Snow and Trail Update….
by Heart Lake Resort on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 2:11pm

Warmer today here in Gaylord – 30.2 as I write this. Folks are up riding this week and still finding good snow off the main trails. Main trails are starting to look rough and dirty in places but this new snow and colder temps that are coming our way will make a big difference. One of the best sites for accurate temps and snowfall is NOAA.gov. Just plug Gaylord, Michigan in and you’ll see exactly what I see – or where ever you plan to go for that matter. They don’t talk about trail conditions of course, but just accurate and very updated info. Or, whether you stay with us or not, you can always give me a call here at Heart Lake Resort as well if you need to know more. Thanks. John 989-732-5081 More later this week….
