Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 01/15

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 01/15

1/15/25
Took a quick 30 mile ride around town tonight to check out the city trails, especially the Kewadin Casino trail, and part of 49 down to 7 mile. Everything is looking so nice. There is the one spot on the Kewadin Trail that’s a bit rough since it was just opened last week and has some water under the ice in there. We’re keeping the groomer out of there to let it freeze in a bit more. Very, very easily passable by sled. Just take it easy in there as it’s a little bumpy due to not being groomed.

49 south of the Soo was night and day difference from when I last looked at it. Zero sign of water all the way to 7 Mile.

A little snow is expected tonight, with a little here and there all weekend. Everything is in great shape overall. Any new snow will only make things better!

Pic is of the worst part of the Kewadin Trail (part of 449). As you can see, it’s no big deal.

We’ll keep you updated as always!
See you on the trail!!!❄❄❄

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 2/28/25
Just got back from a ride and we are definitely getting lots of fresh snow! I have 29” at my place, was at 22” this morning. Trails are pretty flat under all of the fresh stuff, and there is drifting in open areas (my personal favorite to bust through!) We’ve had groomers out, and will again, but we are still down 2. Get out and enjoy the fresh stuff! It’s still coming down! ❄❄❄

Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 01/14

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 01/14

1/14/25
Bryan and his son Logan hit the city trails tonight. They stayed off of the last stretch of the Kewadin Trail to help it freeze in more. Here’s what Bryan had to say-

“Good evening!
Town went well tonight. Only notable things would be there’s still some wet spots to the high school on 497, all minor and should set up good. I took the trail (449) to kewadin just along the power lines. The power company had removed some cribbing/poles and that left spots right off the trail that drop about 1-2’. I tried to leave enough to have a berm between the trail and the drop. Did quite a bit of brushing! Other than that just a happy boy in the passenger seat!!”

We can’t stress enough, PLEASE stay on the trail. There are hazards right next to the trail. Be smart and be safe.
Thank you Bryan and Logan!

1/14/25 trail 49 update-
🚨🚨As you can see, there are some areas that opened back up. This is on 49 between 12 mile and Gaines Hwy. Please use extreme caution!!!

We have a couple of days of warmer temps coming, then back to a deep freeze. This will freeze up solid in the coming days, but we wanted to get the word out for our weekday riders.
Thanks all! Be safe!
