6 degrees this morning and snowing. By the looks of my deck we picked up a couple inches last night. Pretty stiff N/NW breeze too. Looking at the local Canadian radar you can see the lake effect bands setting up across da big lake heading right at us!! ‘They’ are calling for a couple more inches today, a couple more tonight and a couple more for tomorrow!!! Now, on to the trails…….
We are calling the Pine Stump trail #8 to the west fair to good. The Point trails #452 and #453 the same. Groomer Mike hit the Falls trail #45 last night and called that fair to good….just watch out still for dem pesky pot holes that opened up. They are not big but they are a foot deep. No open water on this trail either. ALL TRAILS ARE HARD AND ICEY!!!! Trail #8 going south of town is now officially closed. We are gonna shut all the gates on it today and the DNR is gonna put out an official notice. Now, more on the weather……
This weekend is gonna be great for that ‘one last ride’, but looking ahead, next weekend might be pretty good too!!! ‘They’ are saying the temps are gonna stay cold at least till next Thursday and still alittle snow for next week. We`ll have to wait an see what happens so stay tuned, I`ll report…..you decide. Groomer Chris

21 degrees this morning, cloudy and breezy. It was snowing pretty hard yesterday morning, and blowing pretty hard too. We picked up about 3 inches in a couple of hours then it petered out pretty fast. It blowed so hard I didn`t even have to shovel off my deck. ‘They’ are still saying highs in the teens and lows in the single digits thru the weekend and snow here an there. Not saying alot of snow, 3-6 inches, but we`ll take what we can get!!! Now on to the trails……
I covered Pine Stump in yesterdays report…still the same there. We probably won`t run that again till Friday or Saturday….depends on the traffic. We haven`t been out on the Falls trail since the rain the other day, we are gonna hit that today to see whats UP with that, so I`ll have more info tomorrow morning, but it should be fair to good. I`ve said it before, we are done with trail #8 south of town, its just too far gone and under water. Did talk to Groomer Mike after his late night run on the Point Trails last night to take care of downed trees. He called the trail in decent shape. At this point I want to make a point. All trails are HARD and ICEY. They are ridable but expect the dirt roads that are plowed to be frozen mud and the main roads to be bare. I am getting so many calls asking if its worth coming UP, MAN, it depends what you are looking for. I`ll say it again….they are ridable but HARD and ICEY.
OK, now on to some kudos. Groomer Mike had a long day yesterday, running his business and the power was out for more than 24 hours. After everything got back to about normal, he and his wife Jo jumped in a groomer and took off for the Point Trails to clear downed trees. He didn`t get home till after midnight. Anyways, while out there, he noticed that a couple of snowmobiliers had cleared ALL the small trees that they could…and there was a bunch of them!!!! This saved him and his wife a couple hours. THANK YOU……THANK YOU…..THANK YOU!!!! I wish there was more like you to stop to pick up a branch or small tree off the trail. If you fess up and let me know who you are I will GLADLY buy you a beer, or a cup of coffee, or heck, even supper!!!! Dats it fer today.
