PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 2/2/25
19 degrees this morning and snowin- n- blowing! Picked up maybe an inch or two last night and "they" are calling for an inch or two more today. Good news/bad news for the trails so lets get to it......
Very heavy traffic this weekend so bad news is they got pretty beat up. Good news is they all groomed up nice. Groomer Mike C. ran the Pine Stump trails and reported them good. Groomer Mike H. hit the Falls trail and reported it as good plus after he got done. We did not hit the Point trails yesterday but they are gettin run as I type this.
Now a little bad.....we had a break down Friday on the South trail. Only the first 15 miles or so got run cause we sprung a hydraulic leak and had to limp the machine back to the barn...luckily Groomer Dave made it back. Soooo.....if you were riding the South trail late Friday or early Saturday you ran into some pretty rough stuff. Good news is we got it fixed Friday night and I ran the trail Saturday and it groomed up nice. A little more bad news is a water hole opened up in da swamp Saturday late afternoon. It was about 5' long and 3' deep and all across the trail so it was difficult to get around. Good news is I got it filled in on my way back thru, it wasn`t there on my way out, and its all good now. This futher shows why I say slow down and take it easy in that section!
Speaking of slowing down. We had A LOT of speed freaks out on the trails this weekend. PLEASE SLOW DOWN when the trails are busy!!!!! Imagine flying around a corner and hittin a family with kids just because you are being an idiot and thinking you`re Jonny racer!!! SLOW THE HELL DOWN PEOPLE on busy weekends or any time for that matter. Groomer Mike H. even had some sleds fly by him at 60-70 MPH in the machine!!! SLOW THE HELL DOWN PEOPLE!!!!!! When you come up on a groomer we expect you to pass by at a walking speed!!!
All I have for today.
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> Off like a herd of turtles!
8PM.
O.K. for those that would like to express your opinion on the condition of 9 coming out of Newberry, we know, we're kinda good at this, and we know people😉
I would also invite you to go ride it right now, and get back with us.
( and it'll be hit again yet tonight )
I'd also like to say, what we need to do to this trail tonight to remove what you rode up and down, and up and down, and up and down on, requires a great deal of focus, leaving Newberry with all that traffic was absolutely no fun, and we don't do the trail justice wig wagging around sleds, it would be self defeating doing this during the day and there'd just be that many more of you bottle necking with us!

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 1/31/25
26 degrees this morning and partly cloudy. We have picked up just a dusting of snow in the last 24 hrs.
I have something for ya`s. For those that know me know I have a hard time rating the trail conditions as excellant, things just have to be perfect. This morning I am calling EXCELLANT for our entire trail system. Plenty of snow and the weather has been cooperating. The only exception is da swamp south of town and I`ll call that section just fair. There is a couple of muddy spots but no big deal if you take it easy and ride smart. Speaking of da swamp.....pay attention here....law enforcement has contacted us and requested additional signage to direct riders to stay on the trail to go thru the swamp instead of riding down the side of M-123 coming into town from the south. Ya`ll know what that means so follow the trail. Soooo.....that covers the trails....COME ON U.P., they are in EXCELLANT shape!!!!
I have something else for ya`s that you may/may not realize and I need to get off my chest, I see this every year and I`ve been grooming for 24 of them! We are volunteers, this is not or job, we do this for YOU. When you see us stopped and out cutting those annoying helmet slappers why don`t you stop just for a couple of minutes and give us a hand? I see it a lot every year, ya just ride by and yell "thank you" and ride away or just sit there and watch...we would appreciate a hand...just for a minute even. Case in point. I had a ride along yesterday. Me and Stan were out trimming about a 100 yard section in da swamp. It was heavily over grown with "face slappers". We had branches laying all over the trail and riders just rode by and yelled "thank you" and drove right over them. It would of saved us 20 minutes of our already 7 hr. run if you would have stopped and helped throw off the limbs. On the other hand, I was out last week and trimming high branches. A guy named Eric N. (I wish I would have gotten his permission to use his last name but I forgot to ask) climbed up on the back of the groomer with me and helped trim about 100 yards of big branches that were creaming the top of the groomer as we drove underneath. Thanks a ton Eric, I owe ya a beer!!! OK, enough of my whinning, just give it a thought the next time you see a volunteer out working!
The trails are perfect, you`re missing out if your not U.P. here!!!!
