GRAND MARAIS UPDATE via Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assoc. – 1/2
From Mike groomer/Sno Trails President-Aleta all trails were groomed last night and will be again tonight and that should get them back in shape after a very busy week and one much appreciated night off to celebrate

From Jeremy just in off the south trail-South trail is good to go. Lots of bumps, but plenty of snow to fix it up.
I didn’t get any pics this time around.

From Travis on the east trail last night-A few rough corners down pull up Rd but had snow to work with so it’s looking good out there.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Moderate to heavy snow at times moves into the southern sections of the U.P. late tonight and continues into Monday morning. Hazardous travel conditions are expected for the Monday morning commute! The heaviest snowfall is expected over Menominee County. Lesser snowfall amounts are forecast for the north half of the U.P. and the Keweenaw should remain dry. Gusty westerly winds remain possible over the Keweenaw tonight. CURTIS AREA UPDATE via Curtis Area Trail Association >> Groom our South trail 2 today, from Curtis to Bryce's Michihistrigan Bar and campground.
A couple of hrs. of tree removal, but the trail turned out beautiful, deep snow and freshly groomed.
We also have a groomer out tonight, working the Newberry loop, 43,457, 45 to the trail 9 intersection and back. #curtisarea #newberry #snowphotos

19 degrees this morning and snowin- n- blowing! Picked up maybe an inch or two last night and "they" are calling for an inch or two more today. Good news/bad news for the trails so lets get to it......
Very heavy traffic this weekend so bad news is they got pretty beat up. Good news is they all groomed up nice. Groomer Mike C. ran the Pine Stump trails and reported them good. Groomer Mike H. hit the Falls trail and reported it as good plus after he got done. We did not hit the Point trails yesterday but they are gettin run as I type this.
Now a little bad.....we had a break down Friday on the South trail. Only the first 15 miles or so got run cause we sprung a hydraulic leak and had to limp the machine back to the barn...luckily Groomer Dave made it back. Soooo.....if you were riding the South trail late Friday or early Saturday you ran into some pretty rough stuff. Good news is we got it fixed Friday night and I ran the trail Saturday and it groomed up nice. A little more bad news is a water hole opened up in da swamp Saturday late afternoon. It was about 5' long and 3' deep and all across the trail so it was difficult to get around. Good news is I got it filled in on my way back thru, it wasn`t there on my way out, and its all good now. This futher shows why I say slow down and take it easy in that section!
Speaking of slowing down. We had A LOT of speed freaks out on the trails this weekend. PLEASE SLOW DOWN when the trails are busy!!!!! Imagine flying around a corner and hittin a family with kids just because you are being an idiot and thinking you`re Jonny racer!!! SLOW THE HELL DOWN PEOPLE on busy weekends or any time for that matter. Groomer Mike H. even had some sleds fly by him at 60-70 MPH in the machine!!! SLOW THE HELL DOWN PEOPLE!!!!!! When you come up on a groomer we expect you to pass by at a walking speed!!!

The snow will diminish from west to east on Sunday. By late Sunday morning, expect 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation, but locally up to around 5 inches of snow is possible on the Keweenaw. As a result, plan on slippery road conditions tonight into Sunday morning. I'd also like to say, what we need to do to this trail tonight to remove what you rode up and down, and up and down, and up and down on, requires a great deal of focus, leaving Newberry with all that traffic was absolutely no fun, and we don't do the trail justice wig wagging around sleds, it would be self defeating doing this during the day and there'd just be that many more of you bottle necking with us!
