Ironwood Trail Report – Gogebic Range Trail Authority – 03/01

All GRTA trails have been groomed at least twice since last weekend’s incredible blizzard with many sections groomed 4 times. Trails will be narrow but as the weekend progresses groomers will work to widen them slowly.

We had our tractor go down last night, so Friday night grooming looks to be handled by one rig. We will focus on Trails 2 and 8. Saturday we are planning to run the groomer out 160 again. Picture below is the Morgan Mine area just east of Wakefield on Trail 2.

The beauty in the woods right now is hard to rival. Trails are in incredible shape and look to stay that way for at least another 10 days. Grab your friends and GO SNOWMOBILING! Cloverland Motorsports has all the rental equipment you need to bring that first timer. Snowmobiling needs you to expose people to our sport! Take a friend snowmobiling this weekend! And be sure to thank our all-volunteer groomer force! These guys lose sleep at night and work full time during the day to make you as happy as possible in hopes you come back again and again

Ironwood Trail Report – Gogebic Range Trail Authority – 02/28

GRTA is where trail 2 & 8 begin in the Western Upper Peninsula and as of today they are both groomed completely from the 2-3′ that fell last weekend! Vice President Jerry Nezworski got the wiring issue fixed yesterday and headed out Trail 8 in our beloved Lulich Implement, Inc. New Holland Agriculture T7-210. To say it was a powder groom was an understatement, look at those 3′ banks on the side of the trail!

We need to do some repairs on our Tucker this morning and then we are headed down Trail 11S to SnoBunnies Snowmobile Club trail 11 in Winchester, WI where we turn around. As North Country Snowmobile Club UP said this morning most trails are a groomer drag in width causing narrow trails, so please ride defensively as we work to widen them up.

Good cold temps have allowed trails to set up and we will be grooming non-stop through the weekend to gain some width. Don’t quit on the season, the most epic riding conditions of the past 10 years is HERE and it’s calling YOUR name!
