Ironwood Trail Report – 12/14

IRONWOOD / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club – 12/14

It was 45 degrees yesterday with a ton of riders on the trails and bright sun all day long. We have not groomed since Saturday night. Only trail 2 (Ironwood to Marenisco) and 11 between M28 and US HWY 2 have been groomed regularly. 11S has been rolled, but has two mega wet areas we need to freeze. 160 has been groomed once, but is very rocky needing more snow and also has a few wet areas. Trail 8 has not been groomed, we are trying to not encourage riders to enter the county-line water hazard on Lake Gogebic’s portion of trail 8. We kindly ask you refrain from riding the next couple of days. We are looking at a rain event tomorrow which could cause significant trail issues. Everyone do your snow dance!!!!

LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming >> Bergland Area Groomer's Report for 2/18/25. New snow over the past couple days? Hard to judge with the wind we had yesterday. We're guessing 20"+.. Still snowing this morning when Groomer's got in. Temp's have remained around -3 to 11° which really helps set up the trails. Traffic has calmed and will allow us a chance to catch up with the new snowfall. It's getting DEEP for sure but remember new snow and traffic makes bumps. Off trail should be amazing, just know where you're riding and aren't trespassing on private property. Be safe, slow down and take it in!! ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via Scott's Superior Inn and Cabins >> Ontonagon & Porcupine Mountains Snowmobile Trail Report
Winter has quietly delivered for us in the Ontonagon and Porcupine Mountains area! Over the past week, we’ve picked up a foot of fresh snow, bringing trail conditions to good to excellent throughout the region.
With northern Wisconsin and Minnesota finally opening their trails, traffic in our area has dropped significantly—meaning smoother, longer-lasting conditions for those who make the trip. Trails are holding up great all day long, and every rider we’ve seen is coming back grinning from ear to ear.
If you’re looking for the best snowmobile riding in the Midwest, the Western U.P. is the place to be—tons of snow, incredible trails, and a fraction of the traffic you’ll find elsewhere. Don’t miss out on prime riding conditions!

Our group rides from Scott's Superior Inn and Cabins every year, some of the group like Art Davidson, are lucky enough to go many times a year! (Art will be up there tonight) The Scott family is great, Scott's Superior Inn and Cabins has easy access to UP trail 12, the Ontonagon area location is great, the North Country Snowmobile Club UP is great. (Did you see Josh listed the trails as great to excellent, getting my drift here, things are great! 😃) For more information on snowmobiling the western up , check out this post full of Points Of Interest (POI) www.facebook.com/share/p/14DRviekps/

IRONWOOD / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club – 12/09

All groomers are out and will be out all night. Trails 2, 8 and the 11 loop between 8 & 2 will be groomed tonight. Temps are tough and the snow seems to just be starting, several hours late

Wet areas are really opening up with the increasing traffic, its awesome to see everyone back! But, trail conditions will change rapidly and dramatically. Ride slowly and be careful for rocks on the hills. Please keep your speeds down on the road routes! Thank you groomer volunteers! Support our sponsors like Pit Stop in Bessemer!!!
