JORDAN VALLEY AREA UPDATE via Jordan Valley Trails Council >> 01/28
Happy Tuesday! Get out there and ride! Yesterday afternoon we received more lake effect snowfall with a lot of drifting.
First and foremost, big thank you to our groomer extraordinaire Mike, yesterday he was here and there which seemed to be everywhere, being in 3 different groomers in one day! Thanks for all you do Mike!!!! 👍🏼
It’s been a long week breaking and fixing machines. Thankfully with the help of some great DNR folks we were able to get the 6215R out of the middle of the trail. Now we are just waiting for funding and a track to get that back on the trail. Thanks to Kevin, Cecil and Frank for trying their best Sunday to get it out as well. The Pisten Bully has returned to the trail! Big thank you to Andy L. for coming through in short notice. When he asked when we needed it, I replied “3 days ago” and he said I’ll be here tomorrow. Groomer Cecil and Rich were there to run for parts and lend a needed hand in the arctic conditions and we appreciate their time as well. Overall the team stepped up and handled being down a machine, GREAT! Trails weren’t to our expectations but grooming hours and trails groomed had to be adjusted and we greatly appreciate all our drivers that have adjusted their schedules to accommodate grooming different trails and a few old faces that jumped in to help out! As we mentioned last week trail 766 through the pristine Jordan Valley is back open. The logging on trail 76 north of Elmira is still ongoing and they will be utilizing a portion of the trail this week for hauling, please be vigilant in that area.
Looking forward, we have a mid week warm up coming. The tentative plan is to groom through Wednesday night and then get back on the trails Friday as the conditions cool off. We’re working on a full schedule to round out the week and cover for the downed unit the best as possible with our other machines. By tomorrow we should be right where we need to be heading into the warm up. If your the early one on the trails the next couple days, be cautious of drifting in open areas. Trails overall are still in good condition, unfortunately there still are a few thin spots out there, we really need a nice shot of system snow to pack into the trails. The warmup will help tighten the snow on the trails but we may lose some depth as well. With our area being some of the best riding conditions in the NLP, there has been a huge increase in traffic.
Thank you all for riding our system, supporting the clubs and local businesses! Join a club, grab the groomer tracker app or donate to your favorite riding area organizations. Enjoy your ride!
Here are some pictures of our excitement this week
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> After the warm temperatures and melting snow during the day today (Thursday)...temperatures will drop off rapidly after sunset. This will lead to any wetness re-freezing on area roadways, which could lead to icy roadways and/or black ice formation tonight through Friday morning. Back roads, which became slushy today will refreeze as well, leading to complicated driving conditions. Finally, sidewalks and parking lots could also become hazardous to navigate. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyAfter the warm temperatures and melting snow during the day today (Thursday)...temperatures will drop off rapidly after sunset. FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Finally a real great day of riding yesterday. At least thats what I heard from riders and sadly I wasnt out there myself to tell you first hand. Currently 25 degrees out and supposed to get to 40 today. That actually may help build our base as its supposed to cool back down. I wanted to ride yesterday but I ended up here in Sledheads all day between customers and plowing. Had 5 trucks and trailers parked out back and thats alot for a wednesday. Riders were certainly enjoying the conditions. It would be great to get a full month of February in. Thanks for checking in. FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> WOW ITS REALLY WINTER, we have had a crazy amount of snow since yesterday. I plowed both Sledheads and my storage area twice and have been plowing all of it again this morning for a third time. Snow is still coming down and its great. Several trailers parked out back already. That part is all great but the next two days they are saying 30s and then back to cold. A little warmth might help it settle in and pack it in so that may be good for the base. Everyone so far this morning is excited. I am hoping to get out for a ride. I would guess we have had at least 18 inches from yesterday and today. Thanks for checking in and Please Ride Safely. Pete #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

Too bad that color is 40-50 inches, not 50-75 lol and its 1-2 ft not 3-4 ft
This supposed to be current snow depth? I’m 7 miles south of pine stump and we’ve gotten well over 2 foot in the last 48 hours alone. There’s way more than 50” out there. Way more than 75 even.

JORDAN VALLEY AREA UPDATE via Jordan Valley Trails Council >> 01/23
The JVTC is excited to announce trail 766 is back open! Last week our hard working volunteers spent 8 hours laying plywood and covering the deck on the new bridge. The recent snowfall has added to our trials and helped increase the coverage on the bridge as well.
Thank you to Phil, John, Archie, Alan and Doug for their time helping on this project!
With that said, as they worked on the bridge there were multiple group who pulled up to them. Most of these groups went around a barricade and a barrel on each side. When you see a trail closed, road closed, ribbon blocking a path, PLEASE! think why that barricade may be there. Bridge out, hazard, unsafe trail conditions, private property, etc., it could be for your safety.
