This is really the end now. March 31st the official end of the riding season. I dont think we will forget this one for a long time. There have still been die hards trying to squeak out a little more in the u.p. but even they suffered with the rest of us this poor season. Last weekend Cliff and his wife tried the u.p at Brimeley and they stopped by on their way back. They got a little ride in up there. I just happened to be there so I got a couple pics of them. Also I had a nice message from Jim Wilkerson in Pennsylvania last week and it was good to hear from him. He usually comes our way to ride but of course I didnt see him this season. I am coming at you this easter morning from my cabin down at Wellston. There was certainly nothing going on in Frederic so I have been here for five days. Did alot of driving around and saw many sled trails that I had not seen before but of course they looked more like mud bog trails. Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville still had snow on it and they were actually still skiining there. Seeing the white hill was a pleasant surprise. I always say I go to Sledheads prison on December first and then I get paroled on the end of the day on March 31st. I guess this season I got early parole for good behavior. We will have to see what happens next season. This year I pretty much gave up and if there was rideable snow I was open other wise I just put the closed sign up. At least I had a few good trips during that time frame. As usual if you happen to come thru this summer and my truck or car is there stop in and say hi. Hopefully I will get some good get aways in there. Also remember I am still a Realtor with Century 21 Northland in Grayling so if you are looking to buy or sell Real Estate give me a call. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Ongoing heavy lake effect snow will continue to organize. Snowfall totals of 12-18" are expected across areas southeast of Grand Traverse Bay near Kalkaska. Localized amounts of 18"+ are possible by Monday morning. Snowfall rates of 1" to 3" per hour will lead to rapid accumulations on roads and near-zero visibility underneath heaviest banding, creating dangerous travel conditions. Sleds have been riding in all morning, first phone call came at 7:30 this morning and trailers are parked everywhere. I would guess another eight inches of snow over night and trying to keep up plowing is a trick. For those of you that have parked trailers at my storage lot I am not going to take any trailers at this time as I am already tight on room down there. Just check with me ahead of time to see if I can get some room down there. Parking out back behind my shop will be just daily and by donation. I would say we have to be about the 2 foot mark for the snow this week. Still the same story at Lake Margrethe by my house and I havent even dropped my blade yet at home. The snow is all north and west of Frederic. I cant even remember the last time we had snow on December 1. The snow is supposed to keep it up all week so I imagine next weekend will be really busy. Please remember to ride safely. This is the start of my 27th or 28th year in this place. Boy time flies when your having fun. Thanks for checking in. If it’s anything like usual michigan it’ll be gone in 2 weeks.
Would be nice to see a 34° sunny day and melt it down a foot and freeze it good and hard
Trails are great!
Are you measuring the snow banks where you plowed, I just left LON there is around 24" out there. Waters had around 12" when we came through.
Good for u guys about time the snow comes back!!!!
