Despite a warm up and rain last weekend the trails are in good shape! The cold weather and fresh snow earlier this week revived the trails. Mitchell and others groomed yesterday and the worst he had to report were two slush pockets in the woods. We have a such a thick ice base that conditions are holding . Yesterday we stayed under freezing and saw some sunshine late in the day. It was another cold night so conditions are the same today. It’s areoun 26 now and we may get up near the 32 mark. We’re enjoying some much-needed sunshine and blue skies. It’s another great day to for a March ride–get out and put some miles on if you can!

The Ides of March are upon us…Time to get out the Michigan weather jokes. Yesterday we topped out at 50 in the afternoon. By evening we had steady rain and dropping temps. Around 10 pm it changed to freezing rain, followed by snow. We awoke to at least 2″ of very heavy, wet snow on top of the water and ice outside. And the temperature is back down in the high 20’s. Lake effect snow is predicted today and the temps could get a tad above freezing. Tomorrow is supposed to be colder with another chance for snow. The current weather conditions do not allow for grooming, so we’ll play each day by ear (Tuesday is our off day anyway). It’s one of those beautiful winter scenes outside today. Branches have come down with the heavy ice/snow combination but schools are open and everyone seems to have power. There you have it for the latest and greatest here in Indian River.
