Indian River Trail Report – 01/14

We survived the wet and wild weekend where we saw temps in the high 40’s and everything from freezing rain to rain to snow. Temps dropped to below freezing last night and are around 20 this morning. The cold ushered in some fresh snow and it looks like winter again. We received 3′ here but higher elevations just to our south got about 5′. Not sure there’s enough snow to pack the trails yet, which is why the conditions are labeled ‘too early to tell’. We really need about 6′ of snow for the equipment to work with. But this is a start! Looks like we’ll see some more light snowfall this morning. We also have chances for snow on-and-off all week. The next couple days will only take us into the high 20’s at best. But forecasters show the Jet Stream pushing down on us to bring a new, colder weather pattern by Thursday. Assuming they’re right this shift will knock temps down to the teens. Looks like winter is making a return around here!

White Pine Trail Trail Report – 12/27

No one is riding here (just south of Big Rapids) due to low snow conditions. There’s about 4′ of snow. Snow improves north of Reed City. I will report when conditions improve for riding.

The White Pine trail is the former Railroad track stretching from Rockford to Cadillac. Not a challenging trail, but great for families with many towns to visit along the way.
