The Lake Gogebic Area Groomers are reporting:
January 12th, 2016

Weather conditions are improving by the hour! We’ve received approximately 8-inches of snow over the last 36 hours and it is continuing to snow as I write this. Extremely cold temps over the last few days will be changing over to highs in the low 20’s for most of the remainder of the week with a return to subzero temps this upcoming Sunday. More snow is in the forecast for just about every day with the most amount forecast for Saturday (5-8-inches of additional snow).

The groomers are continuing to try to fill in any wet problem areas. There is a large wet hole on the south end of 13 south, between the lake and Trail 2, but our drivers are doing their best to fill it up. The groomers have been on Trail 8 west, but watch for some wet areas near the county line along Hwy. 28. Trail 102 is in pretty good condition but watch out for logging trucks hauling lumbar – please give the trucks the right of way at all times. Trail 1 south is in fair condition with some wet areas between Fishtails and the Hoop ‘N Holler Tavern. Sleds should be able to get through this area but so far we haven’t been able to get the groomers through this section. Trail 13 north has been groomed and should see another groom over the next couple of days. The railroad grade east of Bergland, Trail 8 east, is in good condition and has been groomed. There is a rather large wet hole north of Bergland to watch out for – but again, our drivers are doing everything they can to fill these problem areas in and freeze them down.

Watersmeet Groomers are reporting:
Good News…Great news!!

The Groomers are out and will be running daily.

We received several inches of snow over the past few days making enough for the groomers to do their magic

Trail 2 west – good

Trail 2 east – good

Trail 3 north – good

Trail 3 south – good shape, a little bumpy due to grading work done in November

Trail 13 south – good
