They are calling for a high today of 27. For the weekend it looks like temps will be in the 30’s with a chance of snow and next week into the 40’s. So come up this weekend and gets some good riding in. Looks like some nice weather to go riding.
The Gogebic Range Trail Authority Groomers Report:
Here is the report from the club president this morning. Trail 2 to Ironwood is groomed and is in good to very good condition, trail 2 to Marenisco is groomed and is in good to very good condition. Trail 8 is groomed and is in good to very good conditions. Watch for a truck crossing going across the trail just after Tula Tracks…11N will be groomed tomorrow depending on the weather. Trial 160 is groomed is in good to condition.
Watch for the detour around a large water hole along with a few smaller water holes on trail 11N signs are posted. There is still logging on 160 so watch for logging trucks. Logging trucks do have the right of way. Trail 11S is closed due to logging this winter.
Lake Gogebic Groomer’s Report:
Groomers are out everyday grooming all trails. Trails are in great shape. We still have plenty of snow for some good riding.
Just a quick word of warning; DNR and police are ticketing anyone riding the highway, all highways, in our area along with riding on the railroad tracks or anywhere you know you’re not supposed to be. This includes riding through Bergland on the highway between JW’s and the gas station or riding from the gas station north along the highway to get to the trail connect.
VERY IMPORTANT: Watch for the reroute where trails 1, 102 and 8 West meet, north of Merriweather going west for about 5 miles. Watch for changes and signs. YOU CANNOT USE THIS AREA FOR ANY RIDING. This reroute will continue to the end of the season. You may also want to top off your gas if headed north through this area as the reroute will add an extra ten miles (there and back) to your trip with no gas stops between Lake Gogebic and Konteka. To view a map of the reroute go to www.explorewesternup.com click on snowmobiling and go to the Lake Gogebic area.
The Watersmeet Groomer’s report:
Our groomers are running daily and trails are all groomed. All trails are in good condition.
Please follow the orange barrels and stay on trail going across Cisco Chain.
Please understand what the groomers are up against during a busy weekend…..
Lots of traffic over the weekends makes it hard for the groomers to keep up. 6 hour runs take 10 hours due to the drivers encountering hundreds of sleds. This really gives the trails no time to set up especially when you add temps over 30 degrees . Ultimately within 10 minutes or after 30 sleds no one can tell the groomers been down the trail.
If anyone has any complaints or concerns about the trails please call the Michigan Snowmobile Association. 616-361-2285
Please remember groomers are out both day and night, so watch for them, please pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them. Groomers have the right of way.
JUST ONE MORE REMINDER: PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS. RIDING ON UNMARKED TRAILS CAN RESULT IN THE CLUBS LOSING EASEMENT FOR THAT TRAIL AND IT CAN ALSO RESULT IN A POSSIBLE TICKET FOR YOU.
