Boyne Area Trail Report – Mountainside Inn – 02/21

Petoskey Snowmobile Club – 02/21
Current Trail Conditions: Good

The trails are still in really good shape, even with yesterday’s sun and warm temps. The worst parts are where you have to ride a roadside. All the roads in the area are clear and dry so you have to get your sled off the shoulder and into the right-of-way (i.e. the ditch) in order to stay on snow. That’s where the groomer cannot go so those areas may need a little extra finesse to ride. Other than that, all the northern trails still have a good amount of snow and are in great shape. Almost all the northern trails were groomed Saturday night.

I don’t have a recent report on the Larry’s Run and I don’t think it was groomed Saturday night. It’s probably safe to assume that it is a little rough this morning (Sunday). We’ll get it taken care of as soon as we can.

Updated: 02/17/10
Current Trail Conditions: Good

The trails south of alba are getting a bit tan,but there is no dirt showing. The base is groomable with ice under it,so very little dirt is being brought up.The snow is old and granular though so it does not pack well or hold a groom. It is good rideing if you dont mind the light tan snow. The groomers will be running daily.

Newberry Trail Report – Visit Newberry – 02/21

Please be careful around corners there is ice under the snow in the curves. We have had warm days and cold nights the past two days.

All trails are still in good condition but we have had a little meltdown due to warmer weather so please be careful and enjoy the riding

Trail #9 north is in good condition.Watch for water on the trail when leaving the staging area near the railroad tracks, Once you get past the 3 mile staging area things get better. The base is 8-10 inches north and groomers are reporting good conditions. Be carful on the straight away between M-123 and 3 mile staging area, mogals form there quick depending on how many sleds go over it. There are some bare spots close to town. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THERE IS LOGGING ON THE TRAIL ABOUT 8 MILES NORTH, SO WATCH FOR LOGGING TRUCKS

Trail #45 North is in good condition with a 8-10 inch base, but, there are 2 logging areas on it. One north, and one south, of the Skyline Trail Head. It is plowed and can be rough at times. The trail from Co. Rd. 500 to the Falls is in good shape.

Trail #9 south to Hemlock Ridge road (trail 2) has up to a 4 inch base and is in fair condition.

Trail #2 From the Naubinway split to Rexton is in fair condition with up to a 3 inch base.

Trail #473 has about 7 miles of plowed road from Rexton south to Epoufette due to logging in the area. Please watch for trucks and deer in the area. The base is marginal to 3 inches and in fair condition.

South of 4 Corners going to Rexton trail has about 41/2 miles of ploughed trails due to logging on the Luce/Mackinac county lines.

Trail #473 Rexton to Trout lake is in fair condition with up to a 3 inch base.

Town trails are open and in good condition with a 2-4 inch base.
