Gaylord Area Trail Report – Ray’s Retreat Country Inn – 02/03

Its been two weeks since we’ve been out on the trails ourselves. Definite withdrawal starting in, so once I got home from my day job we were ready to saddle up. The trail has looked so great whenever I come home from town, it physically hurts to see it looking so darn smooth and not to get a chance to get out and ride it.
Tonight we rode just 30 minutes, but total fun. We took trail 7 all the way into Gaylord along Old 27, and then back thru the pines, and around the airport up to Big Boy for our dinner. Awesome ride. Trail 7 along Old 27 was near perfect!! BE–au–TI-Ful!! Sweet ride. Nary a bump. Enjoyed our supper and then headed back.. a few more sleds had been on it as we headed back so not near perfect, but still great riding. We headed off ont trail 4, hating to leave the trails and brightly lit night sky. Trail 4 was in good shape the short distance we rode it.Just felt so darn good to get out and ride!

We have several rooms of riders and they have been reporting good rides to East Jordan, Lovells. Going north is good .. except a stretch along Vanderbilt where its very thin… but once you get thru there and reach Indian River Trails its great riding again.

We’ve enjoyed having Frank Rice (Photo above) staying with us (and his friend Doug Kelly). Frank is 89 years old and still enjoying his 97 380 Formula S Ski Do. This man’s love for riding/winter and Upper Michigan is awesome. Any day riding is a good day!

Cadillac Area Trail Report – Cadillac Trails – 02/02

FROM THE CADILLAC WINTER PROMOTIONS
Tuesday–February 2, 2010

The trails remain in great shape and it looks like they could remain that way throughout the week if our weather pattern stays the course. Temperatures remain below freezing and the snow machine spits out snow every now and then but not great accumulation is forecasted. At least three groomers are out every day with some groomers doing two routes each day.

Sure hope you are headed this way for the North American Snow Festival scheduled to start Thursday at 5:30 p.m. with Opening Ceremonies at the Armory immediately followed by the Chili Cook-Off. For more details about the event check out the NASF link.

The trails will be busy this weekend so keep safety and fun foremost on your mind as you enjoy this special weekend in the Cadillac area.

Snow gauge*: 3 1/4 inches
