NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump – 2/25 Look at all the sun. People enjoying the amazing day out!! <> NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA – 2/23 February 23, 2023 9:30 am We groomed to holland lake and to Rexton Tuesday night but did not groom last night as we had no new snow yesterday. We plan to groom all trails tonight. It is currently 12 degrees and snowing, we did receive about 3 inches of snow on Tuesday and have significant snow in todays forecast. Remember when you are on the side of a road always ride on the right side! Trail 9: did not groom last night but did groomed on Tuesday night. Logging operations are finished and county roads 415 and 422 are now being groomed but snow is still a bit thin. good. Trail 498: Not Groomed last night but was groomed Tuesday. Good. Trail 45: Not groomed last night. Fair. there is about 5 miles of dirt from skyline to camp 7 rd. There is logging on the trail shortly after you jump on Trail 45 just past the Logging museum off of M-123. There is also be logging about 3 miles North of Skyline Road off to the right. Please use extreme caution in these areas! Both portions are being plowed and could be bumpy or rutted. Very Good in spots Trial 9/2: Not groomed last night but groomed to Rexton on Tuesday night. Conditions being reported as fair. Thank you to all the team at the groomers barn who puts in countless hours to keep the system groomed and maintenance on the machines! Snow totals ranged from little to nothing along the Superior shoreline due to the warm lake temperatures, to 2 feet plus in the higher terrain of Marquette and Baraga Counties. Gusts as high as 50 to 55 mph are possible along Lake Superior and in the Keweenaw. Widespread 4 to 12 inches of snow is expected, lowest in the east. Blizzard warnings are in effect for Baraga and Marquette Counties. Heavy wet snow will arrive later tonight into Thursday morning as a low pressure system lifts into the Great Lakes. Strong northerly winds are expected and blowing snow is likely. Widespread 8-12 inches are forecast; higher amounts in excess of 2 feet are forecast across the higher terrain of Marquette and Baraga Counties into Thursday morning. Note: A sharp gradient in snow totals is expected just inland from the Great Lake-especially along the Lake Superior shoreline in Baraga and Marquette Counties. Wet snow combined with strong northerly winds may cause sporadic power outages.
