Munising Area Trail Report – 03/13

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County Sorva – 3/13

Hello! Let me apologize for lack of reports over this past weekend. I can assure you we have been out grooming. Trail reports are being transitioned to new folks and should be back to normal this week.

We had a significant failure with our older drag that required extensive welding and fabrication. The entire wheel assembly that lifts the rear of the drag broke and twisted up. Hydro rams broken, steel twisted up like a pretzel. The team really came together to get the repairs completed.

Sending out a big THANK YOU to those who worked on this effort. From shuttling people back and forth between Chrismas and Shingleton, to running for parts in Marquette, to the welding and fabrication.

We are getting some new snow. Trails in town really need it. Over all things are holding up great once you get away from town.
Still great late season riding.

More updates to come soon.

Stay Safe – Ride Right!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 03/13

Pictures from the last 2 night. Saturday saw a short clean up run on our east end followed by a full run Sunday night to take advantage of our new snow. We are out right now grooming to get packed what we can before the warm up and rain later this week. Don’t be discouraged! The forecast for this weekend is looking like a good spring storm may happen! Last year, our last run was on the 14th. This year may go longer! If you want to take advantage of the longer riding season, U.P. Sunrise Cottages has openings this weekend and is right off the trail in Little Lake!

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

FROM Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> I need to post this image again because WOW. I can't recall the last time nearly all of the United States was forecast to be below average.
Before anyone gets on the "SEE CLIMATE CHANGE IS FAKE" train... one of these below average maps DOES NOT negate the other 500 above average ones. Trends, folks. Trends. Nothing is a straight line. The warming temperature trend line is full of peaks and valleys with an overall increasing trend. 🙂 #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #petoskey #gaylord #cadillac #traversecityI need to post this image again because WOW. Are trail gates closed on Trail 5 from Champion up to Big Bay and other trails around there or can we still sneak out? With this much snow, we can probably can’t see the gates! Lol.
