FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 01/19 Yes I am the old guy behind the counter. Been standing there for 28 years and today is the start of my 67th year I winter along with my daughters 31st birthday too. She was my birthday present back in 1993. This place was alot better idea when I was 39, but still alot of fun and meeting all the people that read my ramblings here. I started doing this blog before that word was around. Long time reader Tom Parks was the one that first told me I was a blogger. So in any case it will be a fun day talking to everyone and its going to be a busy weekend as the most trailers I have seen between the 2 hotels in grayling this season. About 30 trailers between the two places. Sled traffic was steady all day on thursday. I saw the Grayling groomer going thru town this morning and that was a good sign but it wont take long for trails to get worn. Its a nice cold6 degrees this morning. Big John & Little Billie alond with Umberdog stopped by and they were heading for the bridge this morning. So please be safe out there and enjoy the snow while it lasts. Thanks for checking in. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency?
