Persistent northwest flow over Lake Superior will continue moderate to heavy lake effect snow in the northwest wind snowbelts through the weekend. Please continue to exercise caution if traveling through these areas. Less snowfall is expected across the central UP and nearshore Marquette area where lake effect snow bands are not favored to set up. We've received 12"+ of the fluffy White stuff thus far and it's still coming down. All heads have spoken and have the green light to go!! So what that means? Machines will start Monday (December 2nd 2024) Opening gates, setting trails, clearing debris and hazards, and filling water holes with snow and assessing swamps. Once all trails have been set we will begin packing and panning to create a Base. Then the grooming will start with mother nature cooperating of course. So far everything is looking good for an early start to the 24/25 season.. We'll start updating more regularly with the winter season upon us. Opening day is this Sunday. Everyone excited?? We have snow on the ground, maybe 1"or 2" but with that and below freezing temp's thing's are freezing up pretty tight. We're still a little gun shy from last season about sharing potential snow. However, we are under a Winter advisory with the potential for a good storm system impacting us over the next several days. 🤞If we get 10"to 12" we will start setting and packing trails.
