PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Town Hall Snowmobile Club Paradise MI – 12/01
12/1/24 25 degrees outside and snowing pretty hard…..WELCOME TO OPENING DAY!!!!!!! In fact, its been snowing since last Wed. I can`t remember ever seeing this much snow on the ground on the 1st of Dec. I would say AT LEAST 2 1/2-3 foot.
I have a picnic table in my front yard and I can only see the top of it…..HOLY WAH!!!
OK, ya`ll get the point. Is it wrong to say we maybe have too much all at once? I haven`t talked to da boss to see what his plan is yet but I`ll get with him. The snow is so deep we might have a hard time gettin the groomers thru it. The more riders that come UP the better to help us get things packed down….so…..come on UP!!!! You powder guys will have a BLAST.
Please don`t go around the closed gates as there are swampy areas back in there and we don`t know how deep the water is yet. Our high ground trails will be epic tho!!! In case you don`t know, those are trails #452 & #453 and trail #8 out to Pine Stump. OK, thought I would jump on here on opening day and let ya`ll know this season is gonna be epic. Keep checking back and I`ll keep you informed on our progress.
LET `ER SNOW……..but maybe give us a couple day break to catch up….LOL
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> North-northwest lake effect snow continues overnight before backing to the north wind snowbelts early Monday morning. Confidence is increasing that a heavy snowband will move into the central U.P. during the morning commute hours Monday. Take it slow on ice and snow! As lake effect snow persists through the day, snow accumulations near 2-4" are possible, less near the lakeshores, and locally higher 10-12" are possible in western Alger and northern Delta counties. Lake effect snow finally begins to taper off Tuesday before a clipper system brings widespread light snow late into Wednesday. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> NW lake effect snow will veer to the NNW snowbelts today. Dangerous travel conditions are expected under the strongest snow bands. And, late tonight into Monday, heavy lake effect snow could move into the central UP. However, due to spread in model guidance, confidence remains low in location and duration of dominant lake effect bands across Marquette County. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaNW lake effect snow will veer to the NNW snowbelts today. SENEY AREA UPDATE via Seney Snowmobile Association >> We do have a good amount of snow. It is all lake affect blowing and drifting. We can't give you an actual amount. We don't have trail reports yet because today is the first day we can start to go out. It's going to take us some time to set up the trails. Remember the ground underneath is not frozen yet. So swamps and mud holes won't be frozen so avoid those areas. Our Groomer Trackers won't be up and running just yet. We are hoping they will be back to us this week. They had to get sent out for an update. Once we get them back we will let everyone know. Give us a few days and we'll update everyone on the trails and what to expect. So far it's a great start to the season. #seney #newberry... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Persistent northwest flow over Lake Superior will continue moderate to heavy lake effect snow across the northwest wind snow belts through the weekend. Please continue to exercise caution if traveling through these areas. Less snowfall is expected across the central UP and nearshore Marquette area where lake effect snow bands are not favored to set up.
