TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 12/01

It’s opening day! Unfortunately the winds have not been in our favor. Our area has only received about 3 inches of snow. We just had a storm warning posted this morning for 6-12 inches by Monday morning. Our fingers are crossed. We’ll keep you updated.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Ongoing heavy lake effect snow will continue to organize. Snowfall totals of 12-18" are expected across areas southeast of Grand Traverse Bay near Kalkaska. Localized amounts of 18"+ are possible by Monday morning. Snowfall rates of 1" to 3" per hour will lead to rapid accumulations on roads and near-zero visibility underneath heaviest banding, creating dangerous travel conditions.
