(Brushing). 102 gates have been opened and has been set, but a lot of open water holes. It’s been snowing on and off again everyday, temp’s look good. We’ll keep plugging along and open up 1s (Ethel wood) and 1n to White Pine tomorrow. Thanks everyone ❄️❄️❄️

Marenisco crews out today out working Trail 1S from Marenisco to Presque Isle. We got a decent dump of snow over Thanksgiving time but it’s very light so only a thin base after panning. Still a lot of mud, water, and hidden rocks so very early season conditions right now.
The forecast is looking great with below freezing temps and more snow coming. If you are planning to get out and ride, use caution. We will be continuing to groom the rest of the trails in our area this week and provide updates.

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP >> Welcome to the 2025 snowmobile season! It's going to be a great one! Groomer Mikey took Chad, Hollywood, and TC Troll Joe out for a nice 10 hour training/brushing session Sunday! Here's the team's notes! Thank you to our volunteers and Mike O. for sharing his depth of knowledge and expertise around our club. ❄️Need More snow, but an EXCELLENT BASE is shaping up! Light freezing rain bouts swung through bringing much needed moisture to the dry lake effect snow, creating the excellent base ❄️Snow settled Monday and Tuesday as temps warmed into the low 20's as the freezing rain swung thru ❄️Trails 13, 137, and portions of trail 12 were brushed open, track packed, and rolled ❄️Wet areas are VERY WET ❄️If you want to ride, come ride! You will see dynamic trail conditions from good to mud. We are not grooming at this time, but sleds sure help hammer the frost in! Trails are full of hazards from early season conditions (Rocks, mud, flowing water, slush pools, low or no snow) A nice clipper system is swinging through this week and Michigan does seem to be Michigan-ing again, which is pretty neat. Lots of snow forecast this month!! BE ready! #ontonagon #westernup#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> Lake effect + clipper system + lake effect = a hard forecast! But, here we go! It'll be very windy as well, especially later Wednesday into Thursday. We could have gusts over 40mph over land and 50mph over the lakes and lakeshore areas. This is will cause extremely difficult travel yet again. We'll have light snow Wednesday morning for the commute with heavy snow in the existing lake effect heavy prone areas. The Wednesday evening commute looks like garbage since we'll have strong winds and heavy snow coming down for ALL areas of Michigan. Then, we'll switch back over to lake effect areas by Thursday am. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord#cadillac#traversecity#petoskeyLake effect + clipper system + lake effect = a hard forecast! ONTONAGON / KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via The U.P. Superior Snowmobile Club >> Groomer Update:Todd Warner "Good Morning Everyone". Last night I groomed trail 13 out of Greenland west to Rockland. My turnaround is the trail 121 juncture which is the railroad grade leading into Ontanogon. I left the groomer barn at 2:30 am. The temperature was 20 degrees and it did not snow during my 4 hour run. As expected, there are wet spots with the largest spot depicted in the picture. Snow is thin from the Rockland turnoff to Highway 45 which is about a mile in length. There are also stretches of the trail which groomed up very nicely too. Hoping the colder temps later in the week and the projected snow for Wednesday come to fruition. For those of you out riding already, thank you for helping us freeze down the trails. We greatly appreciate it! Have a wonderful day everyone! Thanks, Todd! #ontonagon #keweenaw#westernup#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> MORE THAN A FOOT MORE snow coming to localized areas tonight through Tuesday! Then, a clipper system with MORE lake effect Thursday. Beyond that I do see warm-up. However, we'll be on the storm track so we could get some shots of rain turning to snow. It looks active! I do apologize, I ran out of time for drawing my own snow maps tonight. However, the HRRR has done wonderfully with the lake effect so far. I will gladly endorse what it suggests for potential snow tonight and tomorrow. I'll be issuing my own map tomorrow for Wednesday night / Thursday's clipper system and lake effect, though! We ain't done yet, y'all! #miweather #keweenaw#westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Lake effect snow will switch to the north wind snow belts. Snow bands could become heavy at times during this morning's commute. So, exercise caution if traveling. Take it slow on ice and snow! As lake effect snow persists through the day, snow accumulations near 2-4" are possible, less near the lakeshores, and locally higher 4-8" are possible in western Alger and northern Delta counties. Lake effect snow finally begins to taper off Tuesday before a clipper system brings widespread light snow late into Wednesday. SIDNAW / BRUCE CROSSING via Sno Valley Riders Snowmobile Club >> We ran trail 8, 15 and 174 east from Trout Creek yesterday, packed what we could. The grade from Trout Creek to Kenton is pretty thin, heading east it gets much better. 174 has lot's of snow but the "tight" section of that trail still has several wet spots that need to freeze. We hope to be able to run the rest of our trails soon. Remember, it's VERY early and there are many obstacles that are not covered by sufficient snow yet. #sidnaw#westernup... See MoreSee Less
