TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 12/04 Groomer Pat and groomer Jeff with trainee Dave were out on the trails today. Fife Lake area was thin on snow. Snow was definitely better the farther north they went. The video is from the Kalkaska area. We will be all set for the forecasted dump tonight, fingers crossed. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat.
