Gaylord Area Trail Report – 12/07
Gaylord Bureau – December 7, 2024 9:50 a.m. Snow, baby, snow! We’re having an epic start to snowmobile season and the Gaylord area got hit with over 40 inches of snow to start out winter. All trails are open and in good shape but there may be some choppy spots due to heavy traffic. Groomers are out working on it to keep them smooth. Please remember that even with the fresh snow we received, we are still building up our base. While it does look like there may be a warm up this weekend, that will help build our base. Groomers will run in the evening as conditions and temperatures allow. A few things to remember about groomers: – Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way. Want to be ready? My back parking lot is full and people are having a problem finding trailer parking. There is light snow falling and we had a couple inches since last night. Its now noon thirty and still snow in the air and riders all over the place. Almost like the good old days when there were riders everywhere. Thankfully the temp is still at 29 degrees. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. – If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass.
