Newberry Trail Report – 12/13
NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Halfway Lake Cottages, LLC – 12/13 Trail report: 12/13/24 Trail 9 North: Excellent/Fair Groomed last night from Newberry to Holland Lake stagging area. It turns to fair once you cross 407 north of pine stump and head tword Paradise. From 123 to the east branch of the 2 hearted is being plowed for logging. Ive heard it’s only for a couple weeks. Trail 498: Good: This was groomed couple nights ago. Traffic is still pretty light so not every trail is groomed nightly yet. Trail 45: Fair/Poor: This was groomed a few nights ago. There are a couple water holes between the Newberry side of 123 and the Skyline rd. Its stays good until you get a few miles from 123 closer to Paradise where it is being plowed down for logging. The gates are also closed at CR 500 as the swamp is not frozen. 8 South out of Paradise: Poor: Paradise says its still wet and the gates are closed until it freezes. Grand Marais groomed 8, 88, and 443 all east of M77. He spent 5 hours plowing then we went for a ride. We took 9 to Pine Stump and back and it was an amazing ride minus the sleeping child riding with me! We passed the groomer on the way there and on the way back! The picture of our backs is actually from the TASA page! My favorite trail in Michigan but it has taken 5 of my helmets peaks this winter. I plan on doing some brushing this summer on 9.
