We’re having an epic start to snowmobile season and the Gaylord area got hit with over 80 inches of snow to start out winter.
Trails were groomed overnight and are in good shape. With the possibility of rain and the temperatures warming up, grooming will stop today and tomorrow and will likely begin again on Tuesday night. Don’t worry, there’s more snow in the forecast! Check out this live feed to see trail #7, just north of Gaylord.
A few things to remember about groomers:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way. – Please move off the trail when groomers are coming and allow them to safely pass. – If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass. – Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night. – Have fun and stay safe!

Sled traffic was relatively light on saturday but riders were finding decent snow but reports of both good and very bad trails. So the wait is on again. Here a few saturday pics. Thanks for checking in. Lets see what happens. Pete

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Its 10:30 on a sunny 27 degree friday morning in downtown Frederic. I got here just after nine and there were about 15 or so sleds lined up at the swamp heading out for a pretty large group ride. Yesterday it was up to 41 and gave us more melting and settling than I would like to see but things have held up pretty well. Not sure what today is going to do. Wednesday things were so perfect and thursday was good too. Next system snow isnt till next wednesday... #gaylord... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> After the warm temperatures and melting snow during the day today (Thursday)...temperatures will drop off rapidly after sunset. This will lead to any wetness re-freezing on area roadways, which could lead to icy roadways and/or black ice formation tonight through Friday morning. Back roads, which became slushy today will refreeze as well, leading to complicated driving conditions. Finally, sidewalks and parking lots could also become hazardous to navigate. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyAfter the warm temperatures and melting snow during the day today (Thursday)...temperatures will drop off rapidly after sunset. FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Finally a real great day of riding yesterday. At least thats what I heard from riders and sadly I wasnt out there myself to tell you first hand. Currently 25 degrees out and supposed to get to 40 today. That actually may help build our base as its supposed to cool back down. I wanted to ride yesterday but I ended up here in Sledheads all day between customers and plowing. Had 5 trucks and trailers parked out back and thats alot for a wednesday. Riders were certainly enjoying the conditions. It would be great to get a full month of February in. Thanks for checking in.
