FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 12/16 And the melt down continues, drizzly rain again with warmer temps than we want. Sometimes things like this help the base if it hardens up but I dont see that happening for 2 or 3 days. Pics below are my back parking lot and my front drive. Very dissapointing. There were a few sleds out and about on sunday. So the wait is on again. Thanks for checking in. (1/31/2025) FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Its 10:30 on a sunny 27 degree friday morning in downtown Frederic. I got here just after nine and there were about 15 or so sleds lined up at the swamp heading out for a pretty large group ride. Yesterday it was up to 41 and gave us more melting and settling than I would like to see but things have held up pretty well. Not sure what today is going to do. Wednesday things were so perfect and thursday was good too. This will lead to any wetness re-freezing on area roadways, which could lead to icy roadways and/or black ice formation tonight through Friday morning. Back roads, which became slushy today will refreeze as well, leading to complicated driving conditions.
