Groomer Report; Our trails really took a hit with those two days of warm weather. The grade is in pretty bad shape west of Trout Creek, we will not be grooming that area until we get more snow. We will try to run east from Trout Creek, the snow is pretty good that way. I would call the trail conditions Fair to Poor. Please ride on the RIGHT side of the trail and STOP at the stop signs! Stay on the trail, if you don’t we could lose trail permissions on private property. We now have the Groomer Trackers installed and working on our groomers. We groom every day that the weather conditions and equipment allow. Light snow showers have been observed today with only a half inch so far at the office here in Negaunee Township. Attention then turns to a widespread system snow that will develop from west to east across Upper Michigan later Saturday afternoon and evening. The snow will continue Saturday night, then diminish during Sunday morning. Snow accumulations across Upper Michigan by late Sunday morning should range from 2 to 5 inches. We're still down to one machine until most likely Monday, but at this moment 102 and 1n are being groomed then 13n to 101 and 8w to Wakefield.. Some rides are just special, and today was one of them. I had the privilege of hitting the trails with none other than Rick, our very own “Trail Boss.” Rick has been riding from our hotel for over 35 years—long before I ever got on a sled myself. In fact, he used to watch me hop on the school bus in the mornings before heading out on his own ride.
Today, we made our way to Victoria Falls, taking in the breathtaking beauty of the trails, the snow-covered trees, and the crisp winter air. There’s no better way to experience the backcountry than with someone who knows these trails like the back of his hand.
Riding with an OG like Rick reminds me why we love this sport—it’s about the adventure, the people, and the places that keep calling us back year after year.
