FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 12/19 Cold , rutty and hard trails. Thats what we have right now. Just a super lite dusting of new snow overnight and things arent looking promising for the next week and that inclcudes 40s next week. We had that awesome teaser of to much snow and then it left us as fast as it came. The wait will be on again. I certainly do not like putting out these negative things all the time but its the way it is. Pics below are from outside my door this morning. Rock hard and slippeery. Even with we had a foot of new snow its going to take alot to where the groomers can get on it again. Thanks for checking in and we certainly need more snow chants. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency?
