PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders – 12/27

12/27/24
37 degrees this morning and raining. Looks like the next couple of days are supposed to be the same, or even warmer and more rain. We sure were off to a good start and then it turns to chit. I hate you Mother Nature! I can`t take this anymore. My business can`t take this either!

Here`s an idea. I know most of you have the week off. Why not just come on UP and get away from the rat race down there? Come and enjoy all the peace and tranquility the U.P. has to offer. There are other things to do other than ride. Check out the Falls in the winter or check out the Locks over in the Soo. The freighters are still sailing. ALL the businesses will welcome you with open arms!

It looks like the weather pattern will change by the end of next week. I sure hope so. I think I`ll get an early start and go cry in my beer now.

POSSIBLE LAKE EFFECT SNOW EVENT AFTER NEW YEAR'S DAY UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> The pattern will become favorable for a significant lake effect event after New Year's Day with increasing confidence in the first lake effect event to take place next Thursday-Sunday. It is way too far out to talk about totals, especially as deterministic guidance often underestimates these events. I wouldn't be surprised if there is over a foot in some locations just in that period. There'll be more updates on snowfall totals late this weekend.
For that reason, Kryptonite Weather and I are going to the UP of Michigan to chase the lake effect later next week. We will have more updates on plans as we get closer. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea #gaylordThe pattern will become favorable for a significant lake effect event after New Year's Day with increasing confidence in the first lake effect event to take place next Thursday-Sunday. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Lake effect snow showers off Lake Michigan and a Clipper system will combine for wet snow accumulations today. The highest snowfall accumulations in the U.P. are expected from Manistique eastward through the Mackinac Bridge with 2" to 5" inches of wet snow possible. Slippery road conditions are expected. Allow for some extra commuting time this morning; especially along the M-28 and US-2 runs. If traveling to or from the Lower Peninsula, plan for additional travel time as there is greater chance for 4" to 6" inches of wet snowfall across much of the northern L.P. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #newberry #soo #straitsarea #petoskey #gaylordLake effect snow showers off Lake Michigan and a Clipper system will combine for wet snow accumulations today. WEATHER UPDATE via Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> We crunched some data and wanted to share our snow totals forecast through 7 AM EST on Christmas Eve (12/24).
As stated with our earlier posts, the precip types should be a snow/sleet mix as you head north of the I-96 corridor. The Saginaw Bay, Thumb and northern half of the lower peninsula should remain all snow.
The tricky part is the snow and freezing rain potential south of I-96, including the I-94 corridor. As of this post, icy roads have shut down portions of I-94 west of Jackson.
Please take your time on the roads today and be ready for rapidly changing road conditions. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey #soo #newberry #straitsareaWe crunched some data and wanted to share our snow totals forecast through 7 AM EST on Christmas Eve (12/24).
