FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 12/28 I’m Melting https://images.app.goo.gl/ypFXQxhgbRxhXDnL6 During the night I was up and it was raining and 38 degrees. Now I am in Frederic and it is still raining on and off and now 43 degrees with a predicted high of 49 degrees. Everything is pretty much slush or mud. I did see two sxs at the gas station when I pulled into town. Not what we want to see on the trails but they are there. PIcs below are from this morning. Now we are starting over. Thats it for now. Pete #gaylord #snowphotos frederic-mi.com Oh I’m so sad about this 🙁 POSSIBLE LAKE EFFECT SNOW EVENT AFTER NEW YEAR'S DAY UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> The pattern will become favorable for a significant lake effect event after New Year's Day with increasing confidence in the first lake effect event to take place next Thursday-Sunday. It is way too far out to talk about totals, especially as deterministic guidance often underestimates these events. I wouldn't be surprised if there is over a foot in some locations just in that period. There'll be more updates on snowfall totals late this weekend. Sled traffic was more than I expected to see on thursday but yesterday compared to today was fantastic. A few times I saw at least 15 sleds over at the swamp and a few sleds rode into Sledheads. This morning a different storty. Icy, Slushy and dirt coming thru. Below are a few pics from yesterday where it looked decent and the ugly pics are from this morning. It rained and melted most all night at my house and all my snow melted off my porch during the night. Not looking good for tommorow either.with rain and 40s predicted.thru sunday. Pics below I took at several trail crossings this morning. Still alot of snow in the woods and I have seen worse looking trails but with the forcasts for the next few days what little we have is going to deteriorate so I say use it while it is here. ONce the rain starts it will ruin things. Boy I do not like saying things like this but what can you do. Snow chants may help turn the rain to snow. Thanks for checking in.
