LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Bergland Outfitters Bait Shop & Motel 01/01 Update on the big storm so far about 1/4 of an inch has fallen. Forecast says a few inches expected hopefully that holds true . LAKE GOGEBIC AREA SPECIAL EVENT via Hoop N Holler Tavern >> Soooooo, wanted to let folks know about a little something happening at the Hoop on Monday, January 6. Polaris is looking to launch a series called, “Lunch with Levi” with Levi Lavallee. It’s kind of like a “diners, drive-in, and dives” style of show. Anyways, they will be filming at the Hoop on Monday, January 6. Along with Levi, will be Michelle Young, from ABC’s show, Bachelorette. Filming will occur from 12-2 Eastern Time and folks are invited to stop in and possibly meet and get pics with Levi and Michelle. #lakegogebic #westernup LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming >> Good evening/morning? Bergland Area checking in. Plans changed a little do to a ice incident going up hill. So we decided against covering 13n to Rockland. Anybody that knows our section of 13n knows there's some pretty good rollers and we didn't want to take any chances. So tonight 1n, 1s and 102 were groomed. All actually in much better shape than anticipated. The lake effect snow we've received was actually making moisture when circulated from blade to drag and set up tight! It's cold, so that definitely helped. Swamp's remain frozen you'll find thin and icy spots and some perfect spots. The tree in the pictures is being addressed in the morning. We have a couple guy's coming in to remove this monstrosity from the corridor that sooner rather than later will end up damaging one of our machines. All pictures are of 102. Marenisco crews were out today inspecting the trails in our area. This is the first time crews have been out since the warm weather we received before the New Year. We didn’t get a dump of snow unfortunately but the cold weather has really helped maintain some of the base. At this time, we’ve only been able to get out on Trail 1 between Copps Tower Rd and just south of Marenisco and it has some poor and good areas but rideable. We have only gotten about 1” of snow as of today and it’s all fluff so nothing to help us get closer to getting out to groom again. We did receive around 6" of new snow overnight and we will be sending 2 machines out tonight to see if it's enough to work with. As of now 13n 102 and 1n will be the only trails covered until we get a better idea what the conditions are. Trails were good from Bergland to the Mosquito Inn. Started to get a bit thin near Houghton/Calumet area. Trail 8 (railroad grade) to 13N going East out of Bergland was a little choppy and thin, but once you hit the woods it was good riding!

❄️ NCSC Groomer Nick is headed to The Porkies' South Boundary road trail #11 and trail #1 to Lake of the Clouds overlook. The final 1/4 mile up to the overlook parking lot will not be groomed. The final 1/4 mile we are going to give the sleds a day or two to pack in the snow to help keep our tractor from spinning out.
‼️There are open mud/water hazards on trail 1# along the lake to the park.
❄️ TC Troll Joe is headed from Ontonagon to Silver City to start fixing up trail #1 from the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park - the Porkies ski hill back south to the Konteka Black Bear Resort White Pine, Michigan. From there he will work east on trail 12 LP Walsh Road to trail 101, 13, and finally 137 back to the barn...if he can get that far!
Shout out to Groomer Mikey and Wyatt - They did full services to our PistenBully North America machines while they were up here, so we're not missing a beat! Thank you!!!

We have a some fresh snow, not enough to get too excited about but we will take it.
The “grade” from Kenton to Ewen is still pretty thin, the far northern areas are better, IE Rockland and north of Sidnaw.
We are going to run a groomer on the east side of our system later today, Friday the 3rd.
Please ride on the RIGHT side of the trail and STOP at the stop signs!
Stay on the trail, if you don’t we could lose trail permissions on private property.
Groomers have the right of way on the trails, pull over and stop to let them safely pass!
We now have the Groomer Trackers installed and working on our groomers.
We groom every day that the weather conditions and equipment allow. Unforeseen circumstances may prevent us from going out, like a major blizzard and being snowed in at our homes or equipment breakdowns. #westernup
