TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 01/02 Don’t let the view fool you. We have received a little over an inch of snow. Everything is white but not rideable. We lost everything in the warm up and will be starting all over. We have a winter weather advisory for 2-5 inches starting tomorrow. However, it all depends on which way the winds are blowing. Finger’s are crossed that they will be in our favor. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat.
