KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports >> 01/08
What is the most amount of miles you have put on a sled?!
Mike Aschliman brought the “OG Rev” up this trip and turned 10,000 smiles riding from Lake of the Clouds to Calumet!
Mike said, “There is definitely more snow south of the bridge. Well done groomers!”
Thanks for sharing Mike! We know you take real good care of that OG Rev!
Notes on Keweenaw Snowmobile Club trail system…
* Trails from Toivola to Mohawk have been groomed almost every night
* Trails 124 is closed for logging
* Trail 134 is a great option for visiting The Mariner North, Copper Harbor Fuel Stop, The Gas Lite General Store – The Genny etc in CH – Copper Harbor has received fresh snowfall also the last few days
* The Valley Sno Drifters/Dreamland Trails are not yet open to Dreamland Restaurant & Bar – but Dreamland is easily accessible by vehicle just down Bootjack Rd out of Lake Linden – Dreamland is a favorite of many!
Notes from the club per Visit Keweenaw website
* ⚠️”Trails north of Mohawk continue to require more snow before grooming can be made. Riding these trails may be considered challenging and the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club urges caution – icy conditions, rocks, thin or bare areas, water may still be present.”
* ⚠️”Keweenaw Snowmobile Club made an opening pass on Trail 133. It is extremely wet and not recommended to ride yet. More snow needed to freeze that trail in.”
* “There is not enough snow yet to groom trails 151, and 152”
* ⚠️”Trail 122 is passable, but ride with caution: expect low snow mixed with mud and early season conditions”

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Fletchy’s Otter Belly Lodge >> 01/08
Took an early morning ride south to see how it was! I think I was the second sled under the bridge! Honestly the best snow is from to twin lakes outside of that it’s rocky and thin! Keep doing your snow dances! Put in a couple hundred awesome miles!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Western UP Trail Reports >> SO LET ME BE THE BAD GUY Since nobody else wants to say it "getting to Copper Harbor sucks". Let me clarify this for ya. If you're planning to head north things get rough around Houghton/ Hancock , but it always does. Trail 17 is a little better than trail 3 and both are pretty much rideable to Calumet. However heading past Calumet gets real thin and a lot of bad spots. Now don't get me wrong there's some fairy good spots. Most everyone I've spoke with have turned around due to these conditions. Those that chose to go all the way wished they didn't, some have even had issues of overheating. Also getting Gay is a No Go. So let's wait and see if they get anymore snow to help those trails get rideable again. Well at least we can report it snowed all day today and we picked up at least 3” right in town and more in the highlands.
A little concern abounds when the negatives keep finding their way to our page. The situation needs monitoring for sure, but there are many pluses and ways to navigate to the north that don’t involve what’s being posted.
KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports >> We definitely NEED snow! Especially north of Mohawk area! ( Conditions south of South Range seem to have more snow!). Dale Stroschein shared the good, the bad, and the ugly from his ride with his wife yesterday. After coming into town late Sunday night and staying at Krupps Resort, they headed out for Copper Harbor yesterday. Dale shared these photos and said, “Well yesterday unfortunately we fell short of our goal making it from Krupps Resort into the very tip of the #keweenawpeninsula where we had our overnight reservation at The Mariner North. The trails overall had been in great shape, a few light snow areas closer to the heavy traffic areas around Houghton which isn’t unusual and just south of Phoenix/Eagle River which left us as I said…short of our goal on yesterdays fun adventure with my wife! Trail traffic overall yesterday was calm, we ran into a few smaller groups, but overall we had very smooth sailing like we were riding on our own private property which is why we love going during the week! From the start of our ride yesterday meeting the owner of Krupps Resort (Cassandra) each stop we made along the trail to our final stop at the Ramada Inn which overlooks the Keweenaw Water Way/Portage Channel…everyone was super friendly and very accommodating! Todays adventure is for us to head towards Bergland Michigan possibly stopping in and visiting another couple great businesses AJ's Lodge and Oven and Hoop N Holler Tavern!” We hope you enjoy your ride today! Thanks for sharing Dale! #keweenaw#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Fletchy’s Otter Belly Lodge >> Here is it! Your trail report! I went north and turned around at the brockway mountian turn! Very thin and lots of moguls. Then I turned towards lac la belle and that was amazing! I was making fresh tracks! South has the better snow so right now we are suggesting riding towards calumet from eagle harbor! Come in via Delaware road though! Happy trails everyone! See you this weekend for breakfast! #keweenaw#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Rousseau Bar >> Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 and it's 0⁰. Nice little herd in this morning. Trails that have been good are still being reported as good. We all know trail conditions are subjective, but consistently hearing that the 174 in the south loop from here is good. #keweenaw#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
