TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club – 01/08
GTASC received 3-8 inches of lake effect snow depending where you are in the trail system. Groomer Jeff did the north run and reported some snirty areas and some good areas. Groomer Dirk ran the east run and reported the same. Thanks guys for volunteering your time. We need more snow but the trails are slowly shaping up. Remember, Ride Right, Ride Safe, Ride Sober.

WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> SNOW TIME!! The big system to the south will be giving us a little bit of snow on the north end Friday! Expect a nice and easy 1-3" for the most part across the area. Roads will be slick at times, but salt and brine treatments should work just fine with temps in the middle 20s. Winds could be about 10-15mph at times, which isn't too high, but still could cause some blowing around and reduced visibility. Mainly in wide open areas. TIMING: Snow starts in Southwest Michigan, Lake Michigan shoreline of Northern Lower, and the U.P. between 7-8am. Flint and the TriCities by about 10-11am. Detroit likely after 12pm, maybe even as late as 2pm in some areas. System snow will wrap up around midnight while lake effect kicks in on the west side of the state behind the system. Lake effect totals Saturday are NOT included on this map. I'm keeping this for Friday only. Lake effect Saturday will be very localized with some areas perhaps getting 3-6" more in heavy bands. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskey#keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaSNOW TIME!!
