PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders – 01/10
1/10/25 27 degrees this morning and cloudy. No new snow in the last 24 hrs, sure could use some. The weather guessers are calling for some during the next few days, lets hope they are right. Lots of good news today so lets get rollin…..
Groomer Keith hit the Pine Stump trail #8 and called it fair to good. He told me the corners are starting to get a little dirty and he`s hittin some rocks here an there, but still good to go. Groomer Ben ran the Point trails #452 and #453 and called them good. He even ran the ridge on Doe Lake rd. that we have been skipping and said that area is a little thin but ridable.
Me and Groomer Dave (not trainee anymore) ran the south trail #8. The good news is we were able to open the gates in the Federal Forest section! It still has a couple of wet spots in there but not bad. On the south end of the power line there is a section of about 100 yards that is ugly but you can shoot out towards the road and avoid it, just be careful. To answer all the questions I`m gettin about the swamp section. We will get in there next week and check it out. For now you can ride the UNPLOWED section of M-123 from the river mouth to town to get in from the south. Today, me and Groomer Mike C. are gonna head down trail #45 to the Falls with 2 machines and no drags and see what we got. Wish us luck!
All fer now. I`ll let ya`ll know how the Falls trail looks tomorrow morning.
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Groomer Chris

WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> SNOW TIME!! The big system to the south will be giving us a little bit of snow on the north end Friday! Expect a nice and easy 1-3" for the most part across the area. Roads will be slick at times, but salt and brine treatments should work just fine with temps in the middle 20s. Winds could be about 10-15mph at times, which isn't too high, but still could cause some blowing around and reduced visibility. Mainly in wide open areas. TIMING: Snow starts in Southwest Michigan, Lake Michigan shoreline of Northern Lower, and the U.P. between 7-8am. Flint and the TriCities by about 10-11am. Detroit likely after 12pm, maybe even as late as 2pm in some areas. System snow will wrap up around midnight while lake effect kicks in on the west side of the state behind the system. Lake effect totals Saturday are NOT included on this map. I'm keeping this for Friday only. Lake effect Saturday will be very localized with some areas perhaps getting 3-6" more in heavy bands. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskey#keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaSNOW TIME!!

SENEY AREA UPDATE via Seney Snowmobile Association >> Here’s the current trail update so everyone knows. All our trails north of M-28 are in good to great shape. Trail 43 heading south is not currently being groomed due to loggers. They are working down there and the road is being plowed from Seney to 10 Curves Rd. We haven't been down there to get the current conditions. We hear from riders It’s rideable but not great, the skis hit rocks and the road is ruff from the all the logging trucks. Nothing we can do about that sorry folks. Trail 43 north of Seney has a couple water holes to contend with and we have detour signs up to avoid that area. Once it freezes in we will take the signs down and reopen that part of the trail. Trail 431 is in great shape. Trail 440 is in great shape. Trail 8 to the Bear Trap is in great shape. We do have 2 Park & Rides one is in Seney, and the other one is off M-77 north of Seney about 4 miles just past The Fox River. If you’re planing on coming up you are good to go. We know there’s not much snow in the lower and taking a trip up here don't seem to promising. But once you cross the bridge and you get about 5 miles south of M-28 you'll see snow. The snow gets deeper the further north of M-28 you go and the riding is good. If you have a trip planed come on up and enjoy it. Remember ride right and stay safe out there. Consider this the most current trail update. #seney #newberry... See MoreSee Less

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org >> 1/8/25 5 degrees this morning under a clear sky. I have picked up about 2" of fresh snow in the last 24 hrs. here at my place. I need to start out with an apology for yesterdays report. I messed up the days we are runnin. We hit the high ground trails yesterday and taking today off for maintenance, sorry, so here we go...... Groomer Mike H. ran the Point trails #452 and #453 yesterday and called them good +. The thin spots are gettin better but he did skip the ridge along Doe Lake road cause thats still pretty thin, but still ridable, you`ll hit a lot of roots so be careful. Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trail #8 and called that good with the thin spots gettin better also. The rest of yesterday report still holds. With these colder temps I have high hopes we can start freezing in the wet areas so keep checking back. All I have fer today. LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Groomer Chris #paradise#newberry... CURTIS AREA UPDATE via Curtis Area Trail Association >> During our meltdown hiatus, we've been busy doing groomer maintenance and ended up pulling one burned up sled off the trail. We have recently restarted the freeze down efforts on wet sections of trail 43, South of Sandtown Rd and also Trail 43 West of Curtis between Barrett Rd and Long Point Rd. There are also logging operations on two sections of the trail between Barrett Rd and Wolf Rd. Trail is rutted with very thin snow. Trail 2, North of H40 (Hiawatha Trail) is also being logged, again rutted with thin snow cover. Due to the overall lack of snow and wet areas, we have not groomed since the meltdown. We have been getting colder temps in aiding with the freeze down, but desperately needing more snow to work with. As with most LE snows, snow cover does vary, the further north you go the snow depths do improve. #curtis #newberry#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
