TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club >> 01/18 Because of the 42 degree warm up yesterday, we have halted grooming operations. We will resume grooming when we get some measurable snow. In the mean time, it was a perfect time to do some maintenance. Big shout out to Ace Welding for welding a new pintle ring on for us. They were able to take care of us right away. We will be ready to groom once we get more snow. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. This could lead to dangerous conditions for those without power or a safe source of heat.
