TRAVERSE CITY AREA UPDATE via Grand Traverse Area Snowmobile Club >> 01/18 Because of the 42 degree warm up yesterday, we have halted grooming operations. We will resume grooming when we get some measurable snow. In the mean time, it was a perfect time to do some maintenance. Big shout out to Ace Welding for welding a new pintle ring on for us. They were able to take care of us right away. We will be ready to groom once we get more snow. This will lead to any wetness re-freezing on area roadways, which could lead to icy roadways and/or black ice formation tonight through Friday morning. Back roads, which became slushy today will refreeze as well, leading to complicated driving conditions. I’m 7 miles south of pine stump and we’ve gotten well over 2 foot in the last 48 hours alone. There’s way more than 50” out there. Way more than 75 even.
